Our Bikes/Builds (ongoing)
This was our first build. Started as a basket case right here in NH. Built in the basement of a good friends'. Steib sidecar of the same era.
Picked this up as a roller down in Mass. Came out pretty nice.
This is a 1951 Chief. Was ridden by an ex Green Beret up until he was 85 when he "couldn't kick it over anymore". Clearly it was period modified back in the '60's with some Buick parts. It now resides in Tom's hotel down in Maggie Valley. Was featured in an episode of American Pickers, I believe the "Roadside Samurai" episode.
This is a complete mongrel. Indian vertical frame, 26 scout engine, NSU front end with fabricated leaf. This was a fun build
1936 Chief. Found in a basement in Philly a few years ago. Was taken apart back in '79 and the paint was scraped off with a razor blade. We rebuilt the engine, but left the sheet metal as it was. This is the bike that we'll be taking on the 2014 Cannonball.
Frame and front end came out of British Columbia. Luckily a friend of mine in WA was able to cross the border and pick it up for me (though he didn't have much luck at the border trying to explain the difference between a bike and bike parts). The rest was mostly fabricated and there are even some Harley parts on it if you look close enough.
Long story on this one. We found it as a roller in Michigan. Story is that it sat behind a shed for years and then hung on the wall for a couple of decades with a TV where the engine should've been.
"37/38 chassis, '33 engine. Was taken apart in the 70's to paint the sheet metal and was never put back together. We picked it up from a great guy down in Florida and pieced it back together in the living room.
Here is a '46 Chief we built for our good friend Rod. Unfortunately he's developed the "sickness" nearly as bad as us, or possibly worse. It's affectionately called "Fanny" as someone down the line painted fanny on the fenders.
